It all started with these gorgeous Abby batts that sweet blogless Manise gifted me for my birthday. Soft, scrumptious. Even though my spinning has been virtually non-existent, I moved them to the top of the list and got going. I must have been overexcited because I put a LOT of twist into those singles. Way too much. And then to compound things (I knew they needed to go through in the other direction to take out some twist but ignored reason), I prematurely plied. In my zeal to get it done, I mangled my beautiful Abby batts!
That said, I love my finished hat! It's like handspun knows that you gave it a shot and it cuts you some slack with the knitting!
Seafoam batts -- 2 x 40 grams -- corriedale/merino/seacell -- spun into 2-ply
Belle Starr Hat, size 6 needles. I added a few extra rows to the hat and then for the second half of the decreases, I decreased every row.
It's lovely ... and matches your eyes.

I think your hat came out great - bet the yarn feels fantastic. And I love the color!

That is super! Awesome soft and cuddly hat. And yes, any sins committed in the spinning wash out in the knitting! But you know what? You're being a little hard on yourself. You love it and that's all that matters!

Oh, and I'm still cracking up at your post title, btw!

It looks wonderful. The post title is great but now I want meatloaf.

What do you mean, mangled? That hat looks great! The stst at the top looks fine - I don't see any mangling! Stop beating up on yourself, missy - I have the monopoly on that!

It's a great color on you!

'Sfunny how the knitting tends to forgive the spinning even before we do. Looking at all the different twists on the market in different yarns, with different plys makes standards shift into 'realistic'. I love the hat!

Very pretty! I just finished a project with some abbybatt handspun too. Yours is so pretty, and isn't it wonderful how forgving handspun is?

The hat is adorable, but I'm now craving filet mignon and haven't even had breakfast yet!

It's beautiful!!! I always feel like I don't do Abby's batts justice. I think I overthink it. :o)

It doesn't look mangled to me either. Quite the opposite. And it brings out your eyes so nicely.

It looks great! You didn't have to confess to all the mangling. We can't tell. Hand-Spun yarn is so great...once it's knitted, it looks so nice and even :)
