In looking at my 2013 goals, there are some nice successes. The running is going well, as is spending time with each of my kids. There were also some goals unmet. Ten goals was a "Ten on Tuesday" subject so, rule follower that I am, I wrote out ten goals. Whether ten goals for given year is the right number is up for debate. Maybe it's too many; maybe it's not enough. I suppose it depends on the goals and the year and the person. For me, it was too many. I'm streamlining in 2014!
For this year, I have three things that I'd like to achieve. (I have a fourth, but it's work related.)
- Lose 25 pounds. It's the right number. It's manageable. And it needs to be done. I am continuing with Weight Watchers to get me to my goal. While I recognize that 25 is just a number, I know myself well enough to know that I'm motivated by an objective and measurable standard. This is going to be hard. I have trouble with sustained weight loss and frequently gain and lose the same 10 pounds. To meet this objective is going to take focus and determination on my part.
- Spend more time alone with Lino. Our family life is really busy and frequently we have to "divide and conquer" based upon our kids' schedules. While going out on a weekend night is great, I'm going to make more of an effort for smaller chunks of alone time - grabbing coffee or going for a walk.
- Finally, from the lofty to the nitty gritty. Get my holiday cards ordered in November and out on December 1st. I struggle with holiday cards, truly I do. I skipped them altogether this year -- it just got too late. That said, I enjoy them. I love getting them, putting them up, and looking at them. And the ones that we get early, we enjoy the longest. So, next year, that's me. Either that or I'm throwing in the towel because I have to stop the "how late is too late?" internal debate around holiday cards.
That's what I'm doing in 2014! Would love to hear your goals, intentions, and dreams for 2014. Or just remember to send me a coupon code in November for those holiday cards!
